A few steps from the main station one finds the most cozy record store in Florence’s city center: Marquee Moon, situated in a former ancient pharmacy. Focused on new releases and reissues ranging from Progressive Rock, Avantgarde and Jazzrock to Blues classics, you may find records which are hardly found in any shops like e.g. Rune/Grammofon releases (Colin Stetson & Mats Gustafsson, Fire!) or Cuneiform Records (Rob Mazurek Octet). Also reissues of rare 70s records from Italian progressive (e.g. Biglietto per l’Inferno, Goblin, Garybaldi) to international progressive (e.g. Centipede) and a few originals are availible. The owner Michele is a very nice and talkative guy, happily recommending and playing records for the visitors, the interior with its antique furniture is inviting to linger some hours and be sure not to leave without a record. Also, they host regular performances, concert and showcases – check their website
The prices are moderate and according to the usual market prices, taking into account the situation in the city center, the welcoming atmosphere and the prices of the other local shops I consider them as fair.
Their website, including an English version, is http://www.marqueemoon.it/ and you may also mailorder. The exact address is
